Our Custom PC Process

Here at Major Custom Computing, the thing that gives us the most satisfaction is turning someone's PC dream into a reality. We pride ourselves on getting it right, both in terms of performance, but also how the machine looks.

We wanted to shed a little light on what the process look like, so you know what to expect if you order a custom PC from us.

STEP 1: Initial Consultation

This is where it all begins: a conversation that will kick-off the whole process. We will have lots of questions for you, so be prepared to answer the following:

  • What is your budget?
  • What do you want the PC to be able to do? (Gaming/workstation/editing/home theatre etc)
  • Do you have and component preferences (Intel vs AMD CPUs, for examples)
  • What games do you want to play?
  • What resolution do you want to run (1080p/1440p/4K)
  • What do you want your system to look like?
  • Do you want RGB elements?
  • Do you need custom water cooling loops?
  • Do you want any bespoke elements? (RGB Backplates/glass panel etching/case modifications etc)
  • Do you need any peripherals?
  • Do you need wireless internet and bluetooth connectivity?

Once we have the answers to the above (and maybe a few more) we can move on to step 2.

STEP 2: Concept Building

  • This is where we get our thinking caps on. Pulling together all your requirements, we'll design a system that will give you the most bang for your buck. We'll build a proposal that includes all the components needed, making sure that they are all compatible (an area that is often overlooked). We'll also build a plan to make the PC look exactly how you've always dreamed.

STEP 3: Concept Sharing and Revision

We share the concept with you and take you through all the thinking that has gone into it. At this point, you are free to make alterations and suggest improvements. We will advise if these changes will affect compatibility and cost.

STEP 4: Concept Sign-off

Once you are completely happy with the concept, we will issue a detailed quote and project timeline and ask for 50% deposit payment up front.

STEP 5: The Build

Our favourite part of the whole process is when we start to get our hands dirty. The timing of this stage is dependent on the complexity and scale of the customisations requested. A simple build, with no modifications will take 4-5 days at the most. Systems with custom cooling loops and case modifications can take up to 3 weeks.

STEP 6: Setup and Testing

Once built, the system will have the specified OS installed and any programs you have asked us to pre-install. We then make sure all your component drivers are bang up to date. All PCs built by Major Custom Computing go through rigorous testing to make sure the system performs as you want it to. We run benchmark tests and share the results so you can see exactly the performance your new machine is capable of.

Step 7: Delivery

Upon receipt of the final 50% payment, we will deliver the system to you. We also offer an installation service, if you don't want the hassle of plugging all your peripherals in!
